Market newsletter 11th October 2012

DATE FOR THE DIARY: Lots of interest about our event on the 8th of November, our Honest2Goodness Market Showcase evening, where we will be presenting a Tasting Menu with Matching wines at the Market Cafe. We will have 6 different tasting dishes, matched with our wines, and each dish will give you inspiration for new ways to present our lovely market produce. Tickets for the event cost €30 and you can book them at the Cheese Pantry or Wine Stall - we are limiting the numbers, so book early! The starting time will be 7.45, which is a detail I forgot to mention last week...

WINNER OF THE BRUNCH FOR 4 COMPETITION IS... Jean Brophy - CONGRATS!

Our 'new business' stalls last week were delighted with the lovely Honest2Goodness Market response from customers! Catherine's 'KatePop' sold out before lunchtime, while Eric's cheese went down a treat with all lovers of strongly flavoured cheese. Catherine is due to be back to us on a once-a-month slot, so expect her back on the 3rd of November for more excitement for the children! Eric's cheese is now available to purchase at the Pantry.

Stallholder news:

We were all thrilled to hear that both Big Red Kitchen and Sheaffoods did us proud at the Blas na hEireann awards last weekend. William of Sheaffoods won a Silver medal for his Granola, while Nicola won two Gold Awards and Artisan Producer of the Year.

Both are due to be at the market on Saturday, so make sure you pop over and taste their fantastic winning products!

Therese at Sticky Fingers Bakery is doing smaller sized cakes now - they are still delicious and gluten free...

At the Pantry, our Cheese Counter will be full to over-flowing as we are restocking on all cheeses this week.

In the cafe our dish of the day will be Beef Rendang and our  Soup of the day will be a Spiced Parsnip. We are also planning on having a Made to Order option of Fresh fish of the Day - details on Saturday when we see the fish that arrives at the market.

Jim Ryan will have rib of beef on the bone, pork steaks and hot and spicy sausages at his stall.

Meanwhile over at the Wine Stall, as both Colm and Hakan are out of the office this afternoon, I havent been able to get a Wine of the Week decision out of them - so you'll just have to check out the Wine Barrell on Saturday! Whatever it is, there will be 15% off the usual price-tag...

Please note that due to trip to Italy starting on Sunday (me doing a cookery course and Colm researching fab new wines), the next newsletter will be on the 1st November, if there is any major news for the Market of the Bank Holiday weekend (27th of October) we will post it to the website homepage www.honest2goodness.ie on Friday 26th of October. Meanwhile, markets will take place as usual this Saturday the 13th, Wed 17th, Sat 20th and Wed 24th...

Hope to see you on Saturday!
Brid & all the team at Honest2Goodness
