Happy Easter to all, and we hope that you get to relax, enjoy the break, with some good food, good wine and great company.

Charity Bookstall:
Over the Easter, why not clear out some of those books clogging your bookshelves and donate them to our Bookstall? Post-Easter we will be supporting 'Mission Malawi' as our brother Iarlaith is taking part in it. You can read more about it here Our plan is to donate all funds raised at the Bookstall from then til the end of May, so any help you can give by either donating or buying books would be greatly appreciated!

All stalls due this Saturday... Dunno where to start with all the news on the lovely new foods available at the Market this week, but here goes anyway...

We have a new stall starting with us this week, a new food venture. The Wild Flour Bakery offers baked goods showcasing the finest artisan Irish ingredients.   Delicious cakes, biscuits and macarons made with organic eggs, handmade butter and beautiful, locally sourced ingredients, prepared for you by Kate Packwood in her Dublin kitchen. On  sale this week:
  • Dark chocolate macaroons with sea salt caramel
  • Individual lemon poppyseed cakes
  • Lavender shortbread (made with handmade butter from North County Dublin)
  • Apple, cardamom and sage muffins (made with David Llewellyn's orchard apples)
  • Various Easter themed treats.

Alicia will be back with more  Spanish Tapas, which went down really well last week.

Cause for celebration in seasonal vegetables! We have Irish Tomatoes coming back in for the weekend! And Irish Rhubarb. Not long til we see the green beans back in season...

Clare from Puddleduck made some of her lovely lemon curd this week, which would be a lovely topping for ... some of the lavender short-bread
, and maybe some ice-cream...

Milk from this Jersey Cow goes into Burke's Farm Ice-Cream  including their pannacotta & raspberry or hazelnut, which are due in and will be for sale at the Pantry this Saturday (next to the Wine counter!)

Our Easter Wine Specials are geared towards that lovely joint of lamb either slow-roasted shoulder, leg of lamb, or even BBQ leg of lamb! We have a Rioja Gran Reserva 1999 from Vina Marro on special, available at €19.95. For an aperitif or with that fish starter, we have a Sauvignon Blance from the Val de Loire on special at €10. And we still have some of those bin-end offers available. Hakan will be at the market on Saturday with wines to taste and ready to offer lots of advice on food & wine matching.

Also at the Pantry, we'll be beavering away on Friday to get our pate & granola back on track. Let us know if you want us to keep you some. We also have our new milk supplier delivering Saturday morning, from Ballymore Organic Farm. So, expect organic pasturised milk in glass bottles (which does add to the cost, unfortunately), and we will have a limited quantity of their raw butter, with cream and yogurts in the pipeline!. Cafe fare - as we reckon Saturday will still be fairly cool, our hot dish of the day will be Chilli Con Carne, and we will have a Spring Vegetable soup.

And last but not least - we have the last day for our  charity draws at the market for Easter - one for the Irish Motor Neuron Disease and the other for the Niall Mellon Trust, with lovely Easter Eggs as prizes. Please support them if you can at all - both really worthy causes.
