Market Newsletter 6th September 2012

Welcome back to the Honest2Goodness Market newsletter, back in fully swing now for the months ahead! Isnt it lovely to get some sunshine at last, even if it is after the children are back to school. Hopefully we will get a few weeks of the sun to warm us up during the Autumn.

Couple of forthcoming events: on the 22nd of September we will have a presentation by Kevin Eakin on RAW MILK, while on the 29th of September we are planning to have one of our occasional Craft Days. More information next week on both of these!

Stallholder news:

Looks like a full house at the market this Saturday as everyone is back with us including GourmetPizza Stall, Big Red Kitchen, and William from Sheaffoods Healthy Granola,  Sinead from the Market Sausage Co, and Lily & Alan from the Mexican Shop (after their tour of doing Mexican cookery demonstrations on some of the big stages this summer - including at the Theatre of Food at the Tall Ships and at Electric Picnic). Do check back on the website at www.honest2goodness.ie for any last minute updates!

Irish apples for sale at the Fruit & Veg stall

At Jim Ryans Stall, Anthony will be starting their Christmas Club this week (sorry for introducing that word when the kids are only a week back in school), they will have all the details available on Saturday.

In the cafe we will have a Lamb Tagine with herby Couscous (with the option of brown rice for the wheat-intolerant). We are also introducing a sharing charcuterie/cheese platter, with lots of local Irish products, find out more on Saturday!

Joining us at the Cafe is Dominic Maguire, with an eclectic mix of old and new, all shapes and sizes,  of furniture and bric-a-brac. You will find Dominic at the bottom of the steps into the Cafe.

At the Pantry, lots of cheeses are back in stock, and we also have some of the smoked products - chicken and duck - back in the fridge. The new organic yogurt from Mossfield is selling out really quickly each week, despite us increasing the order, and we also have a new cheese from them, which is flavoured with Cumin Seeds - it and a couple of other flavoured cheeses will be on tasting on Saturday at the Pantry! We have also heard from Ballymore Farm that they are taking a break from production, as Mary has had health problems, so we wont be having their raw butter or other products for the next few months. We wish Mary and Aidan the best and hope that Mary gets back to full health soon.

To celebrate the lovely weather over at the Wine Stall, we have our Dogheria (IGT Forli Bianco, 2010) on special offer. Normally priced at 14.95, we have it reduced to 11.95 per bottle or an even better 2 for €20! You can taste it on Saturday as it'll be open at the Wine Stall!

Hope to see you on Saturday!

Market Community News

New Section of Newsletter

We are introducing a new section to our newsletter where we invite our customers to send us in any information which might be of interest to the broader Market Community - ideas for bartering, exchanges, local events, fund-raising activities - anything at all really!

This week's Market Community news is from the Regan family, who have this fab house to rent in West Cork. You can find out more on their website here Ask at the Pantry for contact details or you can get in touch via their website. The place looks absolutely fab, and I for one will be planning a few days (or a few weeks there) sometime soon.

We were also contacted by a new local Health Centre called HealthReach (you can read more about them on their website here) who are based near St Peter's Church and who are doing a special offer on health-screening this month - it being Healthy Heart Month, including a free blood-pressure check. So get in touch with them for more info...
