Market Newsletter 19th July 2012

Flowers in the rain in Shandon Garden earlier this week

Welcome to this week's newsletter, and thankfully there seems to be some prospect of improving weather on the horizon, phew! If it does arrive, then be sure to make the most of it by eating outdoors, and where better to pick up good food than at the market...? I can almost smell the BBQ coals already!

Stallholder news:

On holidays this week - Pizza Stall, and Big Red Kitchen; William from Sheaffoods Healthy Granola wont be at the market on Saturday, but will be at our Wednesday market next week - and he will have his version of the Pantry granola, which he is calling COIR (Irish for Honest!). I had a taste of it yesterday, and with a little extra orange rind, it will be very close to the original!

Still waiting to hear from Sarah-Jane to know if her Old Tarts xx Stall will be back in action on Saturday. We will update the website with the latest information on Saturday.

Sinead from the Market Sausage Co, was very happy with her new slot in the cafe, so she will be back there on Saturday.

Ailbhe & Lisa from the Natural Sauce Co, last Saturday at the market

The Natural Sauce Co, will be back with their sauces on tasting this week, after which they will be available at the Pantry. Our first delivery of the lovely organic Goats Cheese from St Tola in Clare sold out last week, so we've had another delivery in ready for Saturday. You can almost taste the sea-air in these cheeses, with a fresh Crottin, a more mature Goats Log, as well as their new Ash Goats Log and Greek-style goats cheeses.

I loved the goat photo so much last week, that I've put it into the newsletter again this week!

Our wine of the week this week is an ideal match with that BBQ you might be planning for the weekend. It is one of our Italian wines from Alba's Vini Mustella, made from the Dolcetto grape, with tastes of dark cherry, smoke and violet. Usually priced at €14.95, it will be available on Saturday for €11.95, and a bottle will be open for you to taste! By Saturday, we will also have decided on a white wine special, so we are not forgetting the white wine drinkers this weekend!

In the cafe we will have a mild Beef Rendang Curry, and lots of other market-fresh food.

Hope to see you on Saturday!
