Market Newsletter 12th July 2012

This Saturday (14th of July), we will have our Summer Craft Day at the Cafe, where local artisan craftspeople will have their products for sale.
Ranging from jewellry to recycled wood products, slate, pottery and skin-care products, there is something for everyone here - all at very affordable prices. So, come along and browse in our cafe area, and enjoy the day even more.

Dont forget that we have another event for you this coming Wed (18th of July) when we will have a Taste Treasure Trail at the market starting at  2pm. It is part of our #Tweetup event, but you dont have to be on Twitter to join us for the afternoon, and the Taste Treasure Trail is ideal for children (and adults!) to learn more about our food and the various ingredients and tastes that can be experienced at our stalls. There will even be a prize for the overall winner (yet to be decided).

Stallholder news:

William from Sheaffoods Healthy Granola

will  be with us on Saturday, and he is working on doing a special Honest2Goodness Granola, based on our original recipe, which a number of customers were looking for. He wont have it done for this weekend, but will have it in the near future, so please if you would like some of it, let him know, so that he can estimate his quantities.

Heres Peter talking pork with Paul Flynn from the Tannery during the recent filming at the market for the Surf & Turf Programme (our one is scheduled for the 8th of August)

The Whole Hoggs

will have some additional products available at the market this Saturday, with some special offers also available, so check it out!

Sinead from the Market Sausage Co, is moving to the Market Cafe area this weekend,  where she will have a Sausage Hotpot with Mustard Mash and also the sausage sambo option i.e. two sausages served in Arun bakery bread rolls.

Breanndan's Pizza will be with us on Saturday, but will then be on holidays for a couple of weeks, so we would advise you to get your pizza fix this weekend.

We will have some lovely new fresh sauces on tasting with us on Saturday from The Natural Sauce Co, who are looking for customer feedback on their fledgling products. After a couple of weeks, the products will be available at the Pantry. Talking of which, we have finally taken our first delivery of the lovely organic Goats Cheese from St Tola in Clare. You can almost taste the sea-air in these cheeses, with a fresh Crottin, a more mature Goats Log, as well as their new Ash Goats Log and Greek-style goats cheeses. All available for tasting on Saturday at the Cheese Counter.

Our wine of the week this week is a Spanish Red Anacal Crianza 2004, with Bobal, Cabernet.Sauvignon and  Tempranillo grapes. Now at €12.50 was €14.95

Intense cherry color with a touch of blackberry. Great aromatic complexity, of dried fruit, with jammy notes, mature fruit, smokiness and spice.

Full-bodied wine with sweet tannins that make it easy to drink.

In the cafe we will have more of the Bahn Mi and a BBQ Beef Stew as well as a smoked chicken Caesar Salad.
Hope to see you on Saturday!
