Honest2goodness Market Newsletter 9th Feb 2012

PSST  - We hope you've remembered that next Tuesday is Valentines Day - and if not you are now reminded!

Welcome to this week's news from the market! Hope you can make it along on Saturday - in addition to our usual Food stalls, we have some extra Craft Stalls at the cafe, with some really interesting artisan products - you can read more about them here.

We hope that the Spring Craft Day will be as inspiring as last Saturday's Cheeseboard Celebration, which was most enjoyable. Was ordering more of the Glebe Brethan cheese just now from David Tiernan - he tells me that this cheese is from a large wheel that he produced on June 30th 2010, and that he has been minding ever since!

Sometimes the old Gulf Stream really does protect us from the weather - thankfully! Grape hyacinths already in full flower - lovely to see and cheer us all up.

Stallholder news:

All stallholders are expected to be at the market on Saturday. As usual, check the website for any last minute changes.

Caryna will have some lovely chocolate-based cakes and treats for Valentines Day and Barts Chocolates will have loads of chocolates for you to chose from!

And not forgetting our gluten intolerant customers, Harfords plan on having more breads and even chocolate cake on Saturday.

Meanwhile over at the newly extended Wine Stall, we have a competition for you to enter, which any lover of Italian Food will be really excited about!. On March 12th Honest2Goodness is hosting a Cookery Workshop with one of our Italian Wine Producers - Poderi del Nespoli, who are flying in a 2* Michelin Chef from Romagna in Italy for a hands-on evening of learning to cook the regions cuisine. They will of course also use market produce for a lot of the dishes! The event  is limited to a small number of our wholesale wine customers and the press, and takes place at Cooks Academy in the city centre.

However, as we dont want to leave out our market customers, anyone buying €50 worth of any of our Poderi del Nespoli wines between now and the 3rd of March is entered into a draw for a ticket to the evening, which promises to be a fantastic event! Ask us for more information on Saturday - Hakan will be at the wine stall again this week.

And, as if that isnt enough - we havent forgotten that we're close to Valentines Day, so we will have Prosecco on tasting on Saturday, and it and our Rose Cava will be on special offer

Prosecco - usually €13.50 - on Saturday it will be €12.15

Pink Cava - usually €18.50 - on Saturday it is reduced to €16.65

At the Pantry, we will have our usual range of breads supplied by the Paris Bakery, and as a few customers were asking about tomato bread - we have ordered in some Garigue - Mediterranean Bread made with sun-dried tomatoes and herbs, so if you want us to keep you some, better let us know or be here early!

Cafe specials this weekend - we expect to have Fish Chowder and Spanish Chicken as our hot dishes, alongside all your usual favourites.

Thats it for now, hope to see lots of you on Saturday!
