Honest2goodness Market Newsletter 26th Jan 2012
HOT PRESS, HOT PRESS!
We were delighted to find out earlier this week that the Honest2Goodness market was included in Ireland.com's recent article on '5 of the best Markets in Ireland'. You can read what they said about us and the other 4 markets here. We are really chuffed about it and thanks to our community of customers, friends, stallholders and suppliers for everything we've done together to get us into this elite grouping!
At the market kitchen, we need someone to work with us on Saturdays to produce the fare for the Cafe - preferably someone who has experience in a professional kitchen - so if you know of anyone looking for culinary work - do put them onto us.
Events news:
Calling all cheese lovers! On Saturday the 4th of February the Cafe will be hosting our 'Cheeseboard Celebration' with several of our local artisan cheesemakers coming along with samples of their cheeses, and telling their stories, including David Tiernan from Glebe Brethan, Moonshine Farm, Cooleeney Farmhouse Cheeses from Tipperary and Michael Finnegan with his super-charged raw goats milk blue cheese - BoyneValleyBlue.

We will also have Glynn Anderson along at 11.30 to give us a talk based on his recent Farmhouse Cheeses of Ireland book - we are delighted that he can join us - Glynn will have copies of his book available for sale and will do a book-signing for all the cheese-lovers at the market!
We will even have wine tasting to match the cheeses - now who could ask for more? Dont say we dont spoil you all!!
For those of you who like artisan to refer to crafts rather than cheese, then you will have to wait until the 11th of February for the return of our Craft Days at the Cafe, with some firm favourites coming back as well as some new faces. More info next week on that one.
Stallholder news:
Mergers and Acquisitions news, hot off the presses this week, as the DMG Team of Andrew, Sheila & Rosaleen and the Spud Man stall have joined forces to optimise their resources and bring you the best in fresh, local vegetables and fruit. The produce will still be from the same sources, but all under the one umbrella.

In season at the moment is beetroot - and here is a lovely recipe that uses beetroot and Feta cheese (best feta in town available at the Real Olive Company stall!)
Meanwhile, talking of the Real Olive Company, they are moving position to where the Spud Stall was (sorry if I am now confusing you all!), well, you know we are always doing something!
Jim Ryan's team will have mutton available on Saturday, following customer requests for this more robust flavoured meat.
Puddleduck will have fresh supplies of the Seville Orange Marmalade - it is really delicious, so you should stock up while its there, as it is selling out everywhere!
Caryna will have more of the lovely Ginger Cake that she had last week. If you missed out on it, here is a photo, but really, you have to taste it!

At the Cafe, we'll have Butternut Squash soup and a hearty & herby lamb casserole, as well as lovely Ariosa Coffee and lots of treats! Also, we are working to eliminate the noisy door problem - we have a temporary solution in place for the next few weeks, but a longer term solution is in the offing, so watch this space!
Thats it for now. Hope to see you on Saturday.
