Honest2goodness Market Newsletter 15th March 2012

Welcome to this weeks newsletter from the market - we hope you have a nice long weekend, and it would be lovely to see you on Saturday at the market

At the market this Saturday, it is business as usual, although a few stallholders cant make it due to Patrick's Day commitments in other places. More info on this below. We are having an indoor BBQ at the Cafe on Saturday, where you will be able to get a market burger, sausage or chicken fillet of your choice, in a market bap/Vlaa, with Puddleduck relishes and market leaves, along with a glass of wine for a tenner!
To all the Mammies out there, hope you have a lovely Mothers Day - as I am becoming known as the Market Mammy, I am also going to wish myself a Happy Mothers Day for Sunday!

Smoked Salmon

Delicious Connemara Smokehouse Salmon: We will have smoked salmon on tasting again this Saturday for those of you who missed it last time, and we have both smoked salmon and gravalax for sale, which would make a lovely simple starter if you are cooking over the weekend!

Other Pantry news:

We had a visit from the Ballymore Farm family late last Saturday afternoon and it was lovely to meet them, as they will be taking over from  Moonshine Milk by the end of March. We are really delighted that along with organic milk and yogurt they will also have  raw butter straight from the farm. They have purchased a lot of the Moonshine Dairy cows, so the taste should be very similar!  As mentioned before, Moonshine cheeses will continue to be available for a few months, as they have a store of cheese that will be maturing over those months.

Kilbeg Dairies, based at Carlanstown, Co Meath (just up the road from Jim Ryans Farm) are supplying the Pantry with Fromage Frais, Quark, creme fraiche, Mascarpone and Buttermilk. All will be available this Saturday at the Pantry.

Stallholder news for this weekend

Absent Stalls this Sat

Gourmet Street Pizza wont be with us this Saturday, as Breanndan's children have persuaded him into spending Patrick's Day with them!
And for a similar reason, Ed Hicks will be missing - two kids have to be cheered on as they take part in a Patrick's Day Parade.

Harfords Gluten Free and John's Health Food Stalls wont be here Saturday 17th of March.

All other stalls due on Saturday.

At the Cafe

We will have our usual toasties, scones and pastries, but as centre stage is being given over to the BBQ, there wont be a soup or hot dish of the day

Wine specials - especially for Mothers Day!

We have a number of wines which are made by women or the wineries are owned by women - these will all be on special offer of 15% discount on Saturday. Come along and see that actually there are quite a few of our wines in this category!

The market will be open as usual on St Patricks Day - with maybe some greener tinges than usual around the place - but nothing too tacky!
