Honest2goodness Market Newsletter 1 Feb 2012

Welcome to this week's newsletter, and to Spring!

Well,  I dont think we're sorry to see the back of January, always the most miserable month in my book! So, now we are into Spring & the Celtic New Year or St Brigids Day if you prefer, celebrated in many parts of Europe over the centuries.

COME ALONG TO OUR SPRING SPECIAL DAY THIS SAT!

To mark the the arrival of Spring, on Saturday we are having our CHEESEBOARD CELEBRATION with lots of cheese tasting of Irish cheeses, with carefully chosen wines to match for you to taste, and we also have a cheese talk given by Glynn Anderson who wrote the recent book on cheese 'Farmhouse Cheeses of Ireland - A Celebration'. He will be here at 11.30 for an informal talk, with copies of his book (if you are into cheese this is a fabulous reference book).

We are expecting David Tiernan who makes Glebe Brethan, Michael Finnegan of BoyneValley blue, Marie from Cooleeney Cheese and Moonshine Farm. The cheese-tasting will run from 11 til 1pm in the cafe. You can find out more here.

You'll also get the chance to meet our new wine team member - Hakan Eriksson - who will be our regular wine expert at the market from now on (and Colm will also be here on Saturday, just so you dont forget what he looks like!).

So, we have lots to entertain your tastebuds on Saturday, and all for free! And of course we do know that the weather isnt yet quite springlike yet - we arent totally mad!

 Stallholders news:

Caryna - Lovin from the Oven Stall -  is keeping with the cheese theme of the day with her Chocolate Truffle Cheesecake, available on Saturday by the slice for €2.50.

Barts Chocolates Stall will have lots of Valentines Chocolates at the Chocolate Stall,  and you can order for Saturday 11th this weekend! And dont forget that we will have a Craft & Gift Day on Saturday 11th at the Cafe, so plenty of choice for that special person in your life - apart from me that is of course!!

And over at Curry Sauce Company, Ann's holidays are now over and we welcome her back to the market from now on!

In the cafe, our hot dish of the day this Saturday is Chilli con carne, while our soup of the day is Thai Broccoli - all warming stuff to keep the cold out.

Looking forward to seeing on all on Saturday, and dont forget to sample all those cheeses and wines when you visit us!
