Honest2Goodness Market newsletter 16th March 2011
Welcome to this week's newsletter, a day earlier than usual, but we reckoned that not everyone would be online tomorrow, given that it is St Patrick's Day and you will all be out and about..., so Happy St Patrick's Day to one and all. And isnt it the most wonderful afternoon out there, weather-wise, sure it would gladden the heart of even the most anti-Paddy's Day grump (that is me by the way!)

This website seems to be a pretty good guide to all that is happening, so you might want to check it out... and report back to us at the market on Saturday if anything is worthwhile going along to...
Talking of which, our market is running as usual on Saturday, and all stallholders are expected along. You can check on the website on Saturday to see if there are any last minute changes.

Breanndan will be along with his great pizzas - here he is stoking his wood-burning stove before cooking up a storm!

Wine specials this week - Colm has got bank-holiday fever!:
Red wine of the week is a real bargain, as we are putting on our Sicilian Nero d'Avola Merlot at only €7.50 - down from a tenner, with lots of dark & red berry fruit tastes, with hints of violet.
The white wine of the week is another from our new Tricon range, and is priced very keenly for a white French Burgundy wine - on offer at €12 on Saturday. This classic chardonnay-based wine is vinified in stainless steel tanks, and has light fresh fruit flavours, including melon.

At the cafe this Saturday, our dish of the day will be Italian meatballs served with herby brown rice or focaccia bread. Our soup of the day will be celeriac and leek (which I thought was an original recipe of mine until I saw a similar recipe in a cookbook recently - ah well!).
In the Pantry, we've been delighted with the feed-back on our new range of salads, so will be continuing to experiment with flavours and textures over the coming weeks. When I was in London over the past few days, I made it my business to visit one of the Ottolenghi shops (who specialise in flavoursome salads) so I came away with lots of new inspiration for healthy salads, which I plan on sharing with you in the near future! As I havent yet fully made up my mind what to focus on as the main ingredients for Saturday, you'll just have to visit to find out (although I do have a few aubergines in the fridge which I set aside last Saturday!).
So, hope to see you on Saturday at the market, and in the meantime, do your best to get out into that sunshine (cos as we all know, it wont last for too long!). In case you didnt know, you can also follow me on Twitter - would be delighted if you did so - check us out at:
