Honest2Goodness Market Newsletter May 5th 2011

Welcome to this week's newsletter! We are delighted to announce that our market has been awarded the Bord Bia Code of Good Practice Award, and we are inviting you to help us celebrate that this Saturday!

We got a lovely banner from Bord Bia, and we have asked local TD Paschal Donohoe to join us on Saturday at 12 midday to present the banner and say a few words. Nothing too formal, but we wanted to mark this milestone in the development of the market.

All the stalls will have lots of samples of their produce available, and at the Pantry, we'll have some Prosecco for you to sample, alongside sparkling apple juice, if its too early in the day for an alcoholic tipple! So, please, please be here around 12 on Saturday for the occasion!

It's all action here at the market on Saturday, as one of our customers who is doing a media studies Diploma will be filming at the market on Saturday - and while the film is for her course, we plan to use clips on the website, so the more people here, the better the atmosphere! So, remember, if you are coming along on Saturday that you may be immortalised in your Saturday market gear (I am definitely going to have to get out of the old tracksuit myself on Saturday, and slap on a bit of make-up!).

Other event news:

Our BBQ Workshop is happening on the 18th of May (Wed) at 6.30. Find out more here, or ask at the Pantry on Saturday.

Stallholder news:

The only stallholder not due to be with us this Saturday is Breanndan and his Gourmet Pizzas - he is returning from his holidays during next week, so we are expecting him back on the 14th of May (lucky him to have had such a great break!)

We had a last-minute new stallholder last Saturday - Franco with his Taste with Gusto stall. All produce is from his native Puglia in southern Italy, and  they plan on returning again to us this Saturday, with pastas, olive oils, sauces etc.

We have another new stallholder starting this weekend - Caryna Camerino, with some wonderful tasting brownies (she brought some along for me to taste a couple of weeks ago, and I was seriously impressed!)

The Curry Sauce Company are making it a "Dhansak Day" at a Special Price of €4 a Pot and a 'Micro Rice Giveaway' on all purchases of 3 pots or more

At the Pantry, the expected delivery of Gubbeen cheese and salamis wont make it before this Saturday - apparently they are out of cheese this week! We hope to have more of the lovely Manchego back in, as it all sold out last Saturday - none left for me to even taste when I got back from London!

I will be making salads, breads and granola, ready for Saturday morning (busy day ahead of me tomorrow, as usual to get everything organised).

At the Wine Stall, wines of the week this week see the return of the old favourites from Rive Haut in South West France, usually priced at €10, and both very keenly priced this weekend at €8.50, giving you a real bargain!

The red wine is a blend of Tannat and Merlot and is full of rich plum and dark fruits with soft juicy tannins. The white is a fresh aromatic and lively wine, made from a blend of Colombard and Sauvignon grapes and goes very well with seafood.

At the cafe, normal service is resumed with our hot dish of the day - its going to be Indian Chicken, which we tried out the other evening and it tasted so good, I knew I would have to do it on Saturday!

Thats all the news for now! Check back on the website at www.honest2goodness.ie for any updates between now and Saturday. Sorry I didnt get to put together any more recipes for this week - the London trip (which was great) meant that I was even shorter on time for the week than normal!
