Honest2Goodness Market Newsletter May 26th 2011
Welcome to this week's newsletter - a little earlier than usual, but hopefully welcome all the same! Another momentous (have I spelt that correctly?) week, and compounded by this very wild weather we've been experiencing, so I think we are all feeling somewhat buffeted - not like normal May weather at all...

Here are two of our farmers taking a rest from the weather with a welcome cup of coffee last Saturday at the market! Cheers Jim & Dominic!
For any of you techno-minded people who use Twitter, you can follow me at this address . For anyone else, you can just ignore that last sentence!
So, enough frivolity!
Event news:
Our BBQ workshop is scheduled for 8th of June, as previously advised. Places still available at the early-bird price of €40, just let us know to reserve a spot for you.
Cafe news:
Due to the absence of the cook (me!), we will have a limited menu available this Saturday, so no hot dish of the day. We will of course have our usual friendly welcome, panini, croissants, coffees, newspaper etc.
Stallholder news:
GourmetPizza wont be with us this weekend, due to other commitments.

Clare from Puddleduck has been cooking up a storm this week with lots of new products now available including: a cherrylicious cherryberry jam, a sweetcorn relish, cucumber pickle (based on the bread & butter pickle recipe that some of you may have sampled at the Pantry some time ago); some tomato ketchup and brown sauce (photo above) & a small amount of raspberry vinegar. Someone was looking for raspberry vinegar at the market a couple of weeks ago, and I just cant remember who it was - well whoever it was, your wish is our command!
Also, for any of you who have admired the tiny sheep made from wool that Clare has at her stall, they are made by her friend Liz, and 600 of them went into the press packs for the Obama Visit - she still has plenty of them at the Puddleduck stall.

Sheila from Dublin Meath Growers tells me that they will have great value on Irish locally grown strawberries - €2.50 for 300g pack or three packs for €6. Great excuse to pretend its summer!
Martin and Ann from The Curry Sauce company wish to advise customers of the following:
Curry Sauce Co is temporarily Out of Stock of Malaysian Rendang due to a recently identified quality control issue. If any customer has a pot of this variant in their press bearing, on the lid, Batch Code 686356/26 they should return it to us for refund or alternative replacement.
Our records note that only 7 Honest2Goodness pot purchases may be affected by this.
Otherwise it's business as usual and 3 pots for €13.50..........there's value!
Pantry news: no salads or spelt bread this Saturday folks - sorry! Back in full production next week. Lots of other lovely things for you to buy - including our Chez Emily chocolate bars which went down a treat last week - and made out the road near Ashbourne... Also, we are expecting Catherine from Mor Foods to deliver some produce on Saturday, including her popular mango dressing.

Wines of the week this week are both from the little known area of Spain called Utiel-Requena, where the Dominio de la Vega vineyards produce great Cava and other really interesting wines made from local and international grapes.
Our white wine of the week is the Dominio de la Vega Sauvignon/Macabbeo/Chardonnay blend, which is matured in oak for three months to give lovely flavours of vanilla, citrus, tropical fruit and butterscotch. Usually priced at €15, it is available on Saturday for €12.75
The red wine of the week is the Dominio de la Vega, Anacal made from the Bobal grape €10.00 down to €8.50
Medium bodied red with flavours of strawberry, spicy vanilla, black pepper and a touch of smokiness.
Thats it for now. Hope you get to visit the market this Saturday - we are open as usual from 9.30 til 4pm. I wont be there myself, due to a family wedding, but it'll be business as usual in my absence.
