Honest2Goodness Market Newsletter July 28th 2011
Welcome to this week's newsletter!

See below how to create this delicious vegetarian dish!
Hard to believe that this weekend is the August Bank Holiday already! If you are going away for the weekend, then we hope you enjoy your break and that the promised sunshine turns up wherever you are.
If you are staying in the city for the weekend, we hope you get to join us at the market on Saturday - as usual we have lots of great quality food for you to buy/taste and enjoy, as well as lots of conversation and gossip...
Fancy a day out in the country?

Jim Ryan is organising a Visitors Day at his Farm, outside Kells, Co Meath towards the end of August - we think that a Sunday would work best, where the farm will be open to market visitors and they will do a sausage-making demonstration. Jim will also suggest other attractive walks in the area, including the megalithic cairns at Slieve na Cailigh nearby. Let us know if you would be interested in taking part.
Our food producers have lots of hidden talents, which are now appearing as new products at the market!

Here is a picture of Clare's (Puddleduck) new knitting venture - these tea-cosies are fab, all handmade by Clare. I bought one for my mother last week and she now has it displayed in pride of place in her kitchen! Clare is taking orders for the cosies - and really you have to look at them when you are next at the market - they are a work of art! She has also made fresh batches of cucumber pickle. a honey ginger and yellow pepper relish and a sweet chilli jam.

I was too late to get some of Rosies garden flower arrangement last Saturday as they sold out within minutes of her setting them out - she will have more of them this Saturday if the weather is dry on Friday evening (so she can pick them without damaging the foliage/flower-heads. Amazing value too!

There will be two stallholders who wont be with us this Saturday due to holidays
Fishstall and Taste with Gusto will both be away for this weekend, back next week
All other stallholders are due on Saturday!
Lots of healthy berries and fruit at the market this weekend - you can chose from strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries - and match them with your choice of cows milk/goats milk icecream or yogurt. There are also lots of juices available - large bottles at Dublin Meath Growers and smaller ones (including fresh orange juice) at the Pantry.
Breanndan's Pizza special this week is:
'Sunset Boulevard' - Sliced Roast Potatoes, Mozzarella (no tomato sauce), and Parma Ham, drizzled with White Truffle Oil.
Wow, sounds good doesnt it!
Other edibles at the market cafe include a Thai Beef Noodle Salad, and our hot dish of the day will be Spanish Chicken (although made with mostly Irish ingredients, including some of the Gubbeen Fresh Chorizo)
.aspx)
Wines of the week this week:
Anacal Macabeo 2010 usually €10, down to €8.50
A very fresh white wine with lemon curd, green apple and mineral flavors. Combines well with fish and white meats and would be a good lunchtime wine as the alcohol percentage is only 11% ABV.
Red wine of the week is our Caballero Mendoza Roble,
Dark fruits, coffee bean and chocolate amongst the flavours for this complex and smooth belter from Spains stellar region. Usually €16, down to €13.50 for this week only.
Recipe ideas this week include this picnic idea that a customer of The Curry Sauce Company came up with:
Take 4 Chicken Fillets diced and fried in Wok or Pan, in with a pot of our Malaysian Rendang, simmered and then left to cool.
Next morning, the Rendang/Chicken mix is rolled into wraps and added to the Picnic Boxes of 4 teenage children heading for a day out of adventures in and around the Phoenix Park.
And the recipe promised at the beginning of the newsletter for a lovely vegetarian dish - perfect as a light supper dish with salad and crusty french bread! You can find the recipe here.
Thats it for this week! Please check back on the website on Saturday for any last minute changes to our expected line-up...
