Honest2Goodness Market Newsletter Aug 4th 2011
Hello from all at the market! We are all beavering away to get organised for Saturday, so we hope you find the time to shop with us, or just to drop by to say hello back. If you want to know where our market is (if you havent visited us before) the details are at the bottom of the newsletter.

Anyone know what this magnificent flower is called? I spotted it in the little park at the end of Oxmanton Road... a free cappuccino on Saturday to the first person to email me the name (and I will check one of my gardening books tonight!)
All stallholders are due at the market this Saturday, including Johnny the Fishmongers, so we'll be doing the fish chowder stew at the cafe for lunch - available to take away as well as to have while you are here at the market.

We are also launching our new Wine & Cheese Bar this Saturday, in the main food hall, where we will have 7 wines available by the glass, including our Prosecco, as well as a cheese platter of our best in-season cheeses. With glasses of wine starting from €4 per glass, it wont cost you the earth to relax and enjoy - we will be serving from 12 til 4pm. Just the ticket to while away an hour if it is raining outside, or to bring out into the sun if the day is fine!
We are still doing our wine specials of course, and to celebrate the launch of the Wine & Cheese bar, our white wine offer is even better than usual, I think Colm must have got a touch of summer madness today!
Vini Mustella, Bianco Jovine - €15 down to €9.95 (that is 1/3 off)
This Italian white is made in Piedmonte - just up the road from Barolo and Alba (based on Chardonnay and Favorita grapes) It shows lovely ripe melon and tropical fruits with a nice spicy fennel finish. Delicious with chicken, pork or creamy cheeses.
Vini Mustella, Dolchetto d’Alba - €15.00 down to €12.00
Dolchetto is the every-day drinking wine from this area where Barolo is king. This juicy and easy to drink wine has lots of spicy cherry fruit backed up by liquorice and violet notes. Great with chicken, pork or with a plate of antipasti assortments.
Other stallholder news:

Rosie will have organic baby spinach and bunches of carrots, as well as a special on her lovely courgettes - an amazing €2.35 per kg. If Friday evening stays dry in Westmeath, she will be able to pick more of those amazing flowers - although you'll have to get here early to even see them, as they disappear like magic early in the day...

On the sweet front, Caryna is going to have an intriguing addition of a selection of cupcake kebabs at her bakery stand this Saturday. What's a cupcake kebab? Call in to find out. I can tell you this much - it's delicious. Read more at http://carynascakes.blogspot.com/
Breanndan has come up with yet another interesting & healthy Pizza for Saturday
Pizza Caprese - Pizza base, slices of mozzarella and plum tomatoes, topped with baby leaf salad and basil leaves, finished with some basil oil!
Clare from Puddleduck has gone all citrus this week and will have lemon and lime marmalde and fresh supply of grapefruit marmalade. and lemon curd as usual. I hope she will also have the fab tea-cosy that she was working on last week with her, as I am buying it off her - if you havent seen them, you need to call to her stall on Saturday - they are works of art!

At the Pantry, we are trying out a new salad this Saturday, inspired by Rosie's organic Sweet Potatoes that we got from her last week, as well as a recipe that a customer spotted in one of our Ottolenghi recipe books - it is a roasted sweet potato with pecan and maple (although we are substituting some of the Spud Man's Wexford honey for the maple!). We will also have some of our very popular aubergine/fennel and herb salad for sale. S
Finally, everyone at the market would like to wish Elaine all the best, as she takes up her new job. She was fantastic to work with, and helped so much in developing our Pantry over the past year. We'll all miss her - although she plans on regular visits to the market to do her shopping!
Thats all the news for now. Check back on the website for any last minute updates.
