Honest2Goodness Market Newsletter April 7th 2011
Welcome to this week's newsletter!

Dominic and his plant stall at his first market with us last week. He makes a lovely welcoming sight at the market entrance!
Hmmm, I was going to switch over in the cafe away from hot food to summer salads this weekend, but while the weather has improved a fair bit, the forecast is for the East Coast to remain cooler, so I think we'll stick with the soup and hot dish formula for a couple more weeks (its going to be Carrot, Coriander & Cauliflower soup, and Chilli con carne for Hot Dish - lots of alliterative Cs there!).
Events news:
The Market Events Calendar is starting to look pretty busy for this month -

this Saturday we have the FREE Seminar on Zest4Life (or how to get lots more energy, feel good and lose weight!). Happening in the Market Cafe at 2pm. More info here. So, you've nothing to lose but that tired feeling along with those few pounds that have crept on over the winter!

Then the following Saturday (16th of April) we are hosting the Slow Food Dublin Grandmother's Day event, featuring our own Gleann Gabhra Stall making goat's milk butter. You might even get the chance to try your hand at it yourself! Again, this event is at 2pm - all are welcome, and it is another free event; it is going to take place near the Children's Play area ('cos we need access to water and that is the best place to tap into the water supply!)
Last but by no means least, we will be hosting a pre-Easter wine & cheese tasting evening (Wednesday) on the 20th of April. Ask for details at the Pantry, where tickets will be available for purchase in advance. Great chance to taste some of our newer wines, in-season cheeses and get to learn about how to match wines & cheeses (or should that be cheeses with wines?!)
Stallholder news:

As Cailean still hasnt been in touch (nobody is more disappointed than we are at Honest2Goodness that it hasnt worked out for him), we are now actively in search of a replacement fishmonger for the market, and I am expecting to meet a potential fish stallholder on Saturday, as he visits us to see what we are all about. He has a family-owned trawler and fishes out of Kilmore Quay, and he tells me that his fish is really fresh and good value, so that all sounds very promising. We will keep you posted on developments, and please come out in numbers on Saturday, so that he knows how many fish-lovers he will be able to sell lovely fish to over the coming months!
The Old Tartsxx Company, aka Sarah-Jane tells me that she is bringing gluten free muffins (blueberry vanilla and choc chip) and there will also be some gluten free ginger cookies. And she is planning on bringing some macaroons, rosewater macaroons and pistachio macaroons. All sound great to me!
Rosie O'Sullivan will be back to us this week with her organic fruit & green house veg; I had some of the organic pears & pineapple during the week, and they tasted fabulous - and some of the green beans (from France), which went down a treat for Mother's Day dinner on Sunday!

Breanndan will be back with us on Saturday to cook more of his lovely wood-fired pizzas (and making all of us stallholders really hungry all day with the smells!). Get your pizza this Saturday or you'll have to wait a few weeks, as he is going off on holidays next week.
Are you still reading this? If so, then read on to find out about our great wine offers this week...

Nespolino Trebbiano/Chardonnay
€11 down to €9.00
Aromatic and refreshing white made from 70% Trebbiano and 30% Chardonnay grapes. Zesty refreshing grapefruit and citrus fruit combine with a backdrop of warmer stone fruit flavours. A great all-rounder that goes well with fish, chicken and white meats.
Nespolino Sangiovese/Merlot
€11.00 down to €9.00
Made by Poderi dal Nespoli (ranked as one of the best producers in Central-East Italy) from 70% Sangiovese & 30% Merlot. The wine shows dark cherry, caramel, chocolate and some savoury notes and is a perfect companion to red meats, charcuterie and hard mature cheeses.

Meanwhile still at the Pantry, we are continuing to expand our range of products, so that you dont have to visit the supermarket on a weekly basis; this week sees us adding in a few more products, including the Ortiz Tuna (the one in the glass jar), and we have introductory pricing on some of these new products as well... so, please add your requests to our suggestion box for new products (and yes, we are working on getting a good quality stock cube option).
Thanks for being an Honest2Goodness customer. Hope to see you soon at the market.
