Honest2Goodness Market 3rd February 2011Newsletter
Welcome to Spring! Yes, officially, Spring has begun, and this week sees a return weather-wise to fairly typical Irish-style conditions... and I am not going to give out about wind, rain and cloud (at least not this week!)... although all that wind is definitely shaking the politician's election photos off the trees, lamp-posts, traffic signs, etc etc, so watch out for fast-moving objects this evening (or is that an actual politician being run from your door?!)

Events:
We are only a few weeks away from the Bring and Buy Charity Sale at the market, so this is a reminder to bring along your contributions in the next couple of weeks so that we can get everything set up!

Still time to register for the Slow Food Spring event taking place on the 9th of February at 7.30pm in Against the Grain on Wexford St. If you are interested, you can find out more at the Pantry on Saturday and we'll include you in the numbers if you decide to come along. Both Elaine and Brid are members of the Slow Food Dublin Committee, so we are more than happy to talk to you about what we are planning for the year...
Stallholder news:
We have another new stallholder starting with us this Saturday, bringing a taste of the Orient with them! Stephen Cunningham has recently started the business called Aroi Thai and they will be adding another dimension to the market with their freshly prepared Pad Thai Noodles (rice noodles) with Vegetables or Chicken and also a Thai Chicken Green Curry with steamed Jasmine Rice. I am looking forward to trying both of those! From the photographs that Stephen showed me, he has certainly invested heavily in getting a really professional stall set up so we wish him all the best in his new venture.

Sarah-Jane's Old Tarts xx Company was a big hit at the market last Saturday - afraid that I only managed to get a photo of the post-market stall, so come along this Saturday to see and taste the real thing! Sarah tells that she is 'looking forward to saturday - bringing honey and morning muesli muffins (as well as the usual Double choc, lemon and blueberry). I will be bringing some gluten free banana and walnut tea-loaves. and the full range of sweet and savoury tartlets'
At the Fish-stall, we may have a few surprises for you on Saturday...
Meanwhile over at the Curry Sauce Company...

...Our Same 14 Quality Sauces
With Their Same Superb Taste
Along With Our Always Friendly Welcome...
Fionnuala at Gleann Gabhar will definitely have both fudge and ice-cream with her this Saturday (she apologises for their absence last week!), along with the Goat's milk and goat's Cheese. As they supply goat's milk for the Knockdrinna Snow Cheese (made in Kilkenny), they will have some of it along for tasting on Saturday as well.

At the Pantry, we've taken a delivery of Derrycamma's lemon rape-seed oil, which everyone who tasted it last Saturday absolutely loved! Still waiting for the Bia Blasta sauce delivery (hope Boris gets it to us tomorrow) as we are for the Gubbeen delivery of fresh Chorizo and Christorra sausages, and some of their Gubbeen cheese.

Pascale from Phoenix Delites has some Lovely Chocolate Roses for just 2.99euro this Saturday, which intrigue me! Pascale also has her Valentine's chocolate boxes available, and Peter's Valentine boxes are available at the Pantry.
Colm from Purchase.ie has another gift idea for Valentines Day - or indeed for any other occasion...The Sunjar is a cute feature for your home or garden. Powered by natural daylight you simply leave the Sun Jar outside or on a window that gathers plenty of light during the daytime.

In the cafe, due to a number of changes in the market kitchen arrangements, we will be changing produce for the next few weeks. We will still be making soup and spelt bread, and will be doing our toasties etc. However, our hot dish of the day wont be available for a few weeks, so try out the Aroi Thai stall for ready-cooked meals.
We will have some lovely croissants and other French-style pastries, muffins from Sarah-Jane and some of her frittata as a new brunch option. We'll be trying out some new fresh Spring recipes over the next month or so, and looking for your feedback on them!

At the Wine Stall, wines of the week this week see the return of the old favourites from Rive Haut in South West France, usually priced at €10, and both very keenly priced this weekend at €8, giving you a real bargain!
The red wine is a blend of Tannat and Merlot and is full of rich plum and dark fruits with soft juicy tannins. The white is a fresh aromatic and lively wine, made from a blend of Colombard and Sauvignon grapes and goes very well with seafood.
Hope to see you Saturday - dont forget to check for updates on the website at www.honest2goodness.ie or follow us on Twitter here
